Honoring Excellence and Service: Change of Command Ceremony & Cadet Recognitions

Today, our cadets proudly participated in a special Change of Command Ceremony at the Naval Reserve Center (NRC), marking an important milestone in tradition and leadership. Our unit had the distinguished honor of presenting the Color Guard, performed with precision and professionalism by:

  • PO2 Alexandra Discenza, USNSCC
  • PO2 Aaron J. Scofield, USNSCC
  • PO3 Kelton O’Neal-Rampaul, USNSCC
  • SA/AA Dylan J. Owen, USNSCC

Their performance was a powerful symbol of discipline, teamwork, and pride in service.

Following the Color Guard presentation, we held a special awards ceremony to recognize two outstanding cadets whose contributions and growth over the past year stood above the rest. We are proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 Theodore Roosevelt Medal for Cadet of the Year and Leaguer of the Year:

  • PO3 Kelton O’Neal-Rampaul, USNSCCSea Cadet of the Year
  • LC3 Arvind Dang, NLCCLeaguer of the Year

Both cadets have consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, initiative, and dedication to the Sea Cadet Corps’ core values. Their accomplishments are a reflection of their hard work and positive influence on their peers and the program.

Earlier in the day, the unit also completed the Physical Readiness Test (PRT)—a vital part of our annual requirements that promotes physical fitness and personal responsibility.

Additionally, our training year is kicking into full gear as we’ve received our training binders and instructional materials from Instructor Sidebotham. These resources will guide our cadets’ progress through academic coursework, practical drills, and leadership development over the coming months.

We extend heartfelt thanks to the Navy League of the United States, Santa Clara Council, for sponsoring the Theodore Roosevelt medals and providing certificates of recognition. Your support continues to elevate our cadets and underscore the significance of their achievements.

We’re proud of all our cadets for their dedication and look forward to another year of service, leadership, and growth.

Fair winds and following seas,
Enterprise Division / Training Ship Ellexson
