Over the weekend of June 7–8, 2025, cadets from the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) Enterprise Division and Training Ship Ellexson participated in a high-impact two-day training evolution focused on public safety, physical readiness, and leadership development.
June 7: Inside the San Jose Police Department
Hosted at the San Jose Police Department Training Facility, cadets were welcomed with a professional orientation and facility tour. They experienced the cutting-edge Force Option Simulator, putting them in real-time scenarios that challenged their decision-making and ethics under pressure. After a mid-day break for chow, cadets engaged in Defensive Tactics (DTAC) training, learning hands-on self-defense techniques under the expert guidance of Instructors Tony Vera and Sebastian Wisniewski. The day concluded with cadets departing inspired and better informed about careers in public safety.
June 8: Safety and Readiness Day
Returning to drill on Sunday, cadets mustered early in PT gear to raise morning colors and conduct a robust physical training session. After changing into NWUs, they underwent uniform inspection and received a detailed safety briefing. The core of the day involved rotating through emergency response training stations, testing their readiness in simulated high-pressure scenarios. Cadets capped the experience with group discussions to reflect on lessons learned, followed by chow, drill, and a final debrief to reinforce the weekend’s key takeaways.
These combined training days exemplify the USNSCC’s commitment to real-world experiences that instill discipline, resilience, and leadership. Special thanks to the San Jose Police Department for their outstanding partnership in helping shape the next generation of leaders.
